What is Nudism To Me:

Nudism is so misunderstood by society, Nudism isn't the mere act of shedding ones clothes, it’s a lifestylethat millions enjoy every day. It’s a freedom from the so called "normal" lifestyle that society has decidedfor us. We were born naked and society has decided for us that we need to cover ourselves in shame, wewere born with these beautiful bodies and each a true work of art. Feeling shame in ourselves is a thoughtbehaviour. I realized this when I had to keep picking up the clothes from my 5 year old as she didn't want tokeep them on, I knew to be accepted in society she needed to be clothed, or was it how people wouldperceive me, if I let her run around naked?, hmmm but regardless I felt  my duty to teach my child toconform.....How sad that she was forced to conform to a lifestyle that is chosen for her and now I had toteach my child that the body that I found so beautiful now would cause her to feel shame. Each individual has their own reason for exploring the nudist lifestyle, whether it be the desire to feel thefreedom and one with nature, or the desire to express their reluctance to conform to the so called normalbehaviour just to feel a part of a group who share the same beliefs, but most feel a desire to break awayfrom society and what society expects of us.Many have misconceptions of what the lifestyle is all about and they may think that sexual behaviour has tobe associated with nudism because it’s being thought by a society that thinks nudity equals sexual desire. That's so far from the truth; nudism is a lifestyle free from the burdens of judgment of demands, of labels, and shame.Millions of dollars are spent each day on clothes and items to help us build our image to fit in with societywhich is fine and accepted but as long as we keep in touch with the real individual under all the clothes, after all we were born as individuals we don't need to find our image it’s already there under those designerclothes/jeans and each a perfect work of art. Some will try to believe that we are not all equal and that their body isn't perfect but the same society thatmade us feel shame is the one that makes us judge others, and nudism doesn't fall prey to those beliefs, the nudist  lifestyle represents that we are all special and there is no shame in being in your natural flesh.I have found since I have found nudity in my life that I'm more confident and I’ve learned to enjoy others forwho they are I don't get impressed by labels, and don't worry what the neighbour has or doesn't have, whenthe clothes and barriers are left behind we are all the same  and can express our ideas and inner selveswithout judgment.I hope that someday my daughter will find her way back to a time before I destroyed her confidence bymaking her cover up and feel shame, I realize that in our everyday lives we need to be clothed  but Itwould be nice if at least once in a while people would leave the textile world behind and enjoy a visit to anudist resort or naturist camp to get back in touch with who they were.
